The University of Ibadan held a 2-day orientation program for Fresh Students into the 2022/2023 Academic Session at the International Conference Centre of the University on the 30th and 31st August, 2023.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale while addressing the fresh students urged them to embrace diversity by joining relevant and registered extracurricular groups on campus.
The VC further asserted that proper time management is essential to a successful sojourn on campus for students, stating that a wish for a First Class is not enough to graduate with it, hence, he advised the freshers to have vision, be determined and focused.
Professor Adebowale also stressed that there are facilities on campus that can enhance the fulfilment of envisioned goals if the new students can properly utilise them, adding that the Kenneth Dike’s Library, Sport Facilities, Youth Friendly Centre and the Eco-friendly Centre amongst others are call-points for students.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Kemi Akinyemi, the Director, Ecological Friendly Centre, implored the students to maximize the various facilities made available to assist students in having a balanced stay on campus.
She mentioned the Youth Friendly Centre to be a succour for students who need counseling and the Eco-friendly Centre as a point for creativity and relaxation for students.
Other notable personalities present at the event were the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor I.A. Abiona, The Registrar, G.O Saliu, Director University Health Services, Dr. Aderonke Ajav, and many other top rank officers of the institution.
