A clean-up day was held at Awo on Saturday, 30th September. It was a new exercise that started with the current administration. The exercise was scheduled to start at 7am. Few minutes to 7am, an announcement was made by the health minister on how the exercise was supposed to happen.
The exercise featured cleaning and inspection. All floor reps were supplied with detergent, izal, gloves, brushes and other cleaning materials by the hall supervisors for their respective floors. On every floor, all hands were on deck by floor members to clean up their surroundings, from the bathrooms to kitchen and sink and also emptying of trash cans.
The clean-up exercise ended with inspection of all floors in all the blocks by the hall warden. Although it isn’t certain if all floors were inspected, but the assistant hall warden was seen inspecting the fresher’s blocks.
The health minister thanked everyone for coming out to make the exercise a success. She also encouraged occupants of Awo hall to emulate the habit of maintaining a clean environment always not just limited to clean-up days. She also mentioned that the clean-up exercise will be held every last Saturday of the month.
