NEWS: THE UNION HAS BEEN RUNNING ON OUTSOURCE FUNDS- SAYS HOST, UI’SU PRESIDENT

The University of Ibadan Student Union conducted a press conference which held n the 14th of January 2924 at the Students’ Representative Council Chamber.

The Student Union President of the University of Ibadan, Samuel Samson Tobiloba disclosed that the union has been running its affairs on outsourcing funds. He made the revelation during a press conference organised by the Union held at the SRC Chamber on Sunday, 14th January, 2023.

He emphasized that the Union had not received its dues from the school account; hence all the current administration’s projects have been sponsored through outsourced funds.

While delivering his opening speech, the president stated that the Union had disbursed a bursary of One million six hundred thousand naira (N1.6m) to indigent students with current plans to do more. Adding that among other achievements of the administration include successful organization of entrepreneurship trainings for student.

During the press conference, series of issues were raised and discussed with emphasis on fees payment, the increment that was introduced at various levels in this session, and the position and current approach employed to address the issue.

While responding to the questions raised on the fee increment, the president stated that the union has intervened through negotiations with the stakeholders.

When asked about the deterrence fee of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000), the president maintained that “fine payment is not a U.I thing”, it’s a universal policy for late fine to be attached to payments.”

The press conference also had in attendance, the Vice President, Ogunsesan Nafisat, the House Secretary, Oluwole Ayomide, The Public Relations Officer, Adeona Tosin, and The Assistant General Secretary, Adeniyi Olamilekan alongside various press organizations as well as few student observers
