ABH L&D Pulls Out of Jaw War After Loss to Awo.

The Alexander Brown Hall Literary and Debating Society has officially withdrawn from the ongoing Jaw War: Rise of Legends competition. In a public statement, The Society cited displeasure with the conduct of the event’s preliminary hall round as the primary reason for their decision.

According to statement released, the withdrawal was prompted by perceived irregularities and lack of transparency in the judging process. They criticized the Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan (TLDS) for failing to provide constituencies access to judging sheets, which would have clarified the rationale behind their loss. ABH L&D considered this practice both “irrational” and “illogical,” arguing that it does not align with the constitution of TLDS.

The statement further criticized the selection of judges and the incompetence of the timekeeper, claiming these issues undermined the competition’s integrity. Highlighting the effort and resources invested by participants, The Society considered the handling of the event unacceptable and decided that all ABH constituencies which comprises of Clinical Sciences and Dentistry Literary and Debating Societies, would not participate in future editions of Jaw War.

In response to potential backlash over their withdrawal, they acknowledged that some might interpret their decision as unfair. However, they maintained their stance, emphasizing they had no intention of revisiting the matter or attending meetings to discuss their grievances.

The statement concluded with a firm farewell to the TLDS and best wishes for their future endeavors.
