The Obafemi Awolowo Hall Representative Council (HRC) inaugurated its 2nd Assembly and elected principal officers on March 21, 2024, at the Senior Common Room (SCR).
At 3:30 PM, the sitting commenced with seven honorable members in attendance. Following the opening address by Rt. Hon. Adetunji Moraanugba, the sitting proceeded with the election of legislative council. Hon. Akinbote Atilolaoluwa was nominated and elected unopposed as Speaker of the legislative council, securing all seven votes. In her inaugural speech, she pledged her commitment to serve Awoites. “To Awoites, I pledge to be your voice, your advocate, and your champion. I will work tirelessly to ensure that your concerns are heard, your rights are protected, and your interests are promoted.” she stated.
She then presided over the election of other principal officers. Hon. Gift Oluwapelumi was nominated for Deputy Speaker and was unanimously elected with seven votes. Similarly, Hon. Orekoya Suliat was nominated and won the position of Clerk of the House with seven votes. Hon. Precious Mojoreola was nominated for Chief Whip and accepted the nomination.
Following the election, the sitting was adjourned till further notice after Hon. Gift Oluwapelumi moved a motion for an adjournment motion.
