Awoites Qualify for FISU Trial, Set to Represent UI in Germany

Two residents of Obafemi Awolowo Hall, Akinyemi Gloria and Akinniranye Oluwasemilore, have qualified to represent the University of Ibadan at the upcoming Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) Games scheduled to take place in Germany.

The students participated in the recently held FISU Games trial, where they competed in the swimming and javelin events, respectively.

Speaking with the Obafemi Awolowo Hall Press, Akinniranye described her qualification as a significant personal and academic milestone. “Qualifying for the FISU is an achievement, for more and better achievements. Representing the prestigious University of Ibadan is an honor,” she said.

She also spoke about her preparation for the games, emphasizing a continued focus on training and improvement. “My goal is to make the people who believed in me proud again and again, continuously. My plans to achieve this lie in my dedication and commitment to training,” she added. Akinniranye participated in three events
Shotput, Discus and Javelin but qualified for Javelin.

On the other hand, Akinyemi Gloria was unavailable for comment at the time of this report.

Their qualification marks a notable achievement for both the athletes and the University of Ibadan.
