The University of Ibadan Students’ Union has announced that the Student Union Congress will hold as earlier scheduled on Saturday, May 17, 2025, despite a prior memo suspending the Congress due to security threat.
In a notice signed by the Union President, Covenant Odedele, and General Secretary, Segun V. Olowu, the Union notified the student body that the Congress would take place today at the SUB Foyer, at 10:00am.
“This is to formally notify all students of the University of Ibadan that the Student Union Congress will hold TODAY, Saturday, May 17th, at the SUB Foyer, commencing promptly at 10:00 am,” the memo read.
Recall, the Union cited harassment, intimidation, and injury to one of the executive members as reasons for postponing the Congress indefinitely. This announcement is made following the UI’SRC decision to hold the Congress as planned.
