Obafemi Awolowo Hall Judicial Council Holds Disciplinary Trials for Hall Residents

The Obafemi Awolowo Hall Judicial Council held court proceedings on June 14, 2025, at the Senior Common Room (SCR) to hear disciplinary cases involving nine residents accused of violating the hall’s code of conduct.

The defendants were accused of cooking in in their rooms – an act prohibited under hall regulations for safety reasons. The cases were read by the Registrar, O.H. Junaid, while the Attorney General, Ojo Victoria, presented her written addresses as evidence. The hearing was divided into three trials.

The first trial, presided over by Chief Judge Adegboye CJ, with Justices David J. and Samson J., involved three defendants charged with cooking in their rooms. Two of the defendants pleaded guilty, citing health-related issues such as malaria and menstrual cramps. The third pleaded not guilty.

The second trial was led by Justice Ayorinde J., with Justices Sado J. and Olawuni J., and involved three other residents facing the same charge. They all pleaded guilty.

The final trial, presided over by Justice Maduka J., with Chief Judge Adegboye CJ and Justice Samson J., involved three defendants. Two pleaded guilty, citing illness as a reason, while one was absent.

The presiding judge adjourned all cases for judgment.It was also noted that lateness to court by any party would henceforth attract punishment.
