The Junior Chamber International Nigeria, University of Ibadan chapter, held a press conference on Friday, October 3, 2025, in anticipation of the Fifteen Outstanding Persons Award (FOPA). The theme of this year’s edition is “Beyond Recognition, Youths Driving Social Transformation” and it is scheduled to hold on Nov 1, 2025.
The event took place at the University of Ibadan’s SRC chamber.
The conference was attended by key members of the organization, including the President, Taiwo Olanlesi Odusote; Executive Vice President (External), Al Awwal Abdulrahman; Executive Vice President (Internal), Olalusi Susan; and the Directors of FOPA, Lawal Quayyum and Ajayi Gold.
According to the President, the award aims to recognize and reward outstanding personalities among students and alumni who have made significant contributions to their respective fields. The award, which started as a five-person recognition, has grown to acknowledge 15 outstanding individuals.
The selection process involves a rigorous scrutiny of nominees, with voting carrying 20% weight, reasons for deserving the award 40%, and CV/resume 40%. A panel session will also be held to further evaluate the top 30 nominees.
The awards categories for undergraduate students include Academics, Entrepreneurship, Sports, Student Leadership, Hall Management, Faculty Management, Selfless Contribution to a Worthy Cause, Journalism etc. The alumni category will recognize five outstanding personalities.
The voting process is open to everyone, and the public can participate by voting for their preferred nominees. The voting link is expected to be available from Monday, October 6, 2025.
The President emphasized that the organization has taken measures to ensure the credibility and transparency of the process, including strict scrutiny of nominees and a panel session.
The press conference concluded with a Q&A session, and the President delivered the closing address.
