The Obafemi Awolowo Hall Press Organization officially transitioned leadership on Sunday, 28th November 2025, during its handover service held via its WhatsApp channel.
The event, which commenced at exactly 8:02 PM, was anchored by the outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Miss Rianat Ademola. She opened with the press prayer and followed up with a welcome and appreciation address.
“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all members of Obafemi Awolowo Hall Press for showing up for the press body, submitting articles, and pushing Awo Press out there. Thank you all!” she said.
Addressing the incoming administration, the outgoing editor-in-chief urged cooperation and dedication, emphasizing that leadership must be a collective responsibility.
“Work with your editor-in-chief. Don’t burden her with the responsibility. Please support her, do your part. All hands should be on deck… It is an honor to serve. I wish you all the best and a smooth administration! With this, I bow out of office,” she concluded.
Following her remarks, the 2024/2025 editorial board was officially dissolved, and the new team for the 2025/2026 academic session was unveiled:
– Editor-in-Chief – Divine Leonard
– Deputy Editor-in-Chief/General Editor – Hadiza Usman
– Managing Editor/News Editor – Jesutofunmi Ayeni
– Online Editor – Elizabeth Oladapo
Miss Ademola congratulated the new board, urging them to lead with purpose and integrity.
“The baton of leadership has been passed to you; may you make the best out of it. Let the press motto be your guiding lines: Truth, Fortitude, Progress.”
In her inaugural remarks, the new Editor-in-Chief, Divine Leonard, expressed her appreciation and commitment to growth.
“It’s indeed a privilege and honour to serve… I believe that by God’s grace and with diligence, we can take Awo Press to a better place. I need all your support and help with that. Thank you.”
A highlight of the evening was the recognition of Jesutofunmi Ayeni as the Best Inductee for the 2024/2025 academic session. Miss Ademola praised her dedication and consistency.
“She really outdid herself. Thank you so much for always being there for the press,” she said.
The handover service concluded at 8:54 PM with a closing address, marking a new chapter for the Obafemi Awolowo Hall Press.
